The Cannizzaro 2026 International Conference will take place in Palermo, across three historic and prestigious venues of the University of Palermo.
April 14, 2026 — Opening Session
Palazzo Chiaromonte – Complesso monumentale dello Steri
Piazza Marina, 61
90133 Palermo, Italy
Built at the beginning of the 14th century (around 1307), Palazzo Chiaromonte is a remarkable example of Sicilian medieval architecture. Over the centuries, it served as the residence of the powerful Chiaramonte family and later as the seat of the Spanish Inquisition in Palermo. Today, it houses the Rectorate of the University of Palermo. Its rich history and architectural heritage make it a prestigious setting for the opening of the conference.
April 15-16, 2026 — Scientific Sessions
Dipartimento di Giurisprudenza
Via Maqueda, 172
90134 Palermo, Italy
The current Department of Law occupies what was historically the main seat of the University of Palermo. These buildings also hosted Stanislao Cannizzaro’s laboratory, making this venue particularly significant for this conference. The sessions will be held in the Aula Magna, located in the heart of Palermo’s historic centre.
April 17, 2026 — Final Session
Dipartimento di Ingegneria
Viale delle Scienze, Building 7
90128 Palermo, Italy
The final day of the conference will take place in the Aula Magna of the Department of Engineering, located within the University’s main campus at Viale delle Scienze. This modern and spacious facility hosts the largest lecture hall in the entire University of Palermo, making it particularly suitable for the closing events of the conference. Its location within the main university campus offers participants the opportunity to experience a different facet of the University, which combines modernity with academic tradition.
